Kari

He really is wonderful. I just can’t seem to stop smiling. I hope he doesn’t get too mad at us for snooping a little, though.

After Hunter left On Bitter Grounds, there was an obvious spring in Kari’s step as she went about her work. She was feeling pretty good after having her moment with Hunter. Even though Lila’s murder investigation had come up in the conversation, it hadn’t dampened Kari’s spirits.

As she was working, Kari couldn’t help noticing Kasi rolling her eyes. She knew her sister well enough to know that eye roll was meant for her.

“What is it?” Kari asked.

“Nothing. It’s just that you and Hunter are so cute together,” Kasi said with a sly smile.

“Oh, are we?”

“Yeah. You did realize that was his second time in the shop today, right? Do you think that’s just about the coffee?” Kasi remarked.

Kari didn’t retort to this. Instead, she just stuck her tongue out in response.

“Let’s get back to work.”

Kasi agreed, only because they had a lot of work to do. There was still a line for the lunch rush, and the sisters were hoping they would be able to sell out their chicken salad croissant sandwiches before it was over.

Such a huge success would be a testament to Kasi’s touch when it came to creating tasty treats. Kari loved that her sister’s skill with food gave their coffee shop a whole new dimension.

I really hit the jackpot with her.
